Ministry of Cooperation:
Ministry of Cooperation was created by transferring the existing entries related to cooperation and cooperative in the business of the erstwhile Ministry of Agriculture, Cooperation and Farmers Welfare vide Cabinet Secretariat’s Gazetted Notification.
Multistate Cooperative Societies Act 2002:
An Act to consolidate and amend the law relating to cooperative societies, with objects not confined to one State and serving the interests of members in more than one State, to facilitate the voluntary formation and democratic functioning of cooperatives as people's institutions based on self-help and mutual aid and to enable them to promote their economic and social betterment and to provide functional autonomy ,was being felt necessary by the various MSCS, and federation of various cooperative societies as well as by the Government. In order to achieve the objective, The Multi State Cooperative Societies Bill was introduced in the Parliament. The bill having been passed by both the Houses of Parliament received the assent of the President on 3rd July 2002 and it came on the Statute Book as The Multi State Cooperative Societies Act 2002 (39 of 2002)
Central Registrar of Cooperative Societies office:
-The Central Registrar of Cooperative Societies office is the statutory body responsible for registration and other processes of the MSCS. The Office of CRCS looks after the MSCS in their management, registration, yearly filings, and other regulatory processes
- As per the nature of the work and issues related to Multi State Cooperative Societies, there is two major sections existing in CRCS office i.e., Registration and Management sections.
- Registration section looks after the matters relates to registration of new Multi State Cooperative Societies/Banks, deemed registration, conversion of the societies and amendments of the Bye- laws. - The Management sections looks after the issues relates to elections matters, analysis of submitted annual returns & audit reports, complaints received against the registered societies and the liquidation of societies.
